Ramadan Mubarak/Kareem
Ramadan is the eight month of Islamic calendar, also called the month Quran, It is a time for fasting, kindness, and giving to the needy and poor. It's referred to as the month of charities, as communities and families come together to celebrate. Fasting occurs from sunrise to sunset, during which there are certain things one must refrain from, such as lying, backbiting and fighting.
The Importance of fasting during Ramadan includes:
1. Insulin Resistance
2. Weight loss
3. Discipline/Perseverance
4. Improvement in brain functions
There are exception for some people who cannot fast during this month due to various reasons,and they have valid excuses not to fast. These include:
1. Pregnant mothers
2. Elderly individuals
3. Sick people
4. Breastfeeding women
5. Travelers
Ramadan typically lasts for 29 to 30 days. At the end of the month there are big celebrations where people wear new clothes, families and friends come together celebrate while enjoying delicious foods. The celebration marking the of the end of the Ramadan is called EID Al-Fitr
